As a member of Young Living, you're now part of an extremely large group of people all over the world who love living this lifestyle and share the bond of EO love. your virtual office

The Virtual Office is your online Young Living account space that is accessed by logging in through www.youngliving.com. The initial email that is sent to you from Young Living shortly after you placed your Starter Kit order will have your Member Number and Username, but you'll have to remember what your password was when you initially signed up.

This online hub is where you'll track your shipments, place future orders, learn all about Young Living, and more. It's very interactive with lots of helpful tools everywhere you click. Make sure that you visit the Getting Started tab which will help you become more familiar with things. Take the time to look through the site before your kit arrives so that once it does, you feel more confident and ready to get started!

staying connected

There are two Facebook groups I'll be adding you two - the one I lead, and then the Mid-Atlantic Essentials Group which is comprised of the entire regional network of oilers that I am a part of. The addition to the Mid-Atlantic Group must be accepted by you on Facebook so be on the lookout for that invitation. It's fun to connect and be inspired by the way others use and love the oils, as questions, and enjoy being part of a community of like-minded people. Feel free to be involved as little or as much with these groups as you'd like - there is no pressure. But the resource is just so rich and fun! Be sure to follow Young Living on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and through their Blog where fresh new content is always being shared.

how to reorder - quick orders & essential rewards

Go to your Young Living Dashboard by logging into youngliving.com using your username and password. Once you've logged in, you can then place an Essential Rewards ("ER") order (if you've already signed up for the Essential Rewards monthly auto-ship program) or a Quick Order using the left-hand toolbar. You can only place one ER order a month, but you can place a Quick Order at any time. Quick Orders can be paid for with earned PV points (explained below) - Essential Rewards orders can not be paid for with earned PV points.

understanding the PV "Personal Volume" Points System

Every YL product has a personal volume point value associated with it, typically dollar-for-dollar in value. For example, a 15ml bottle of Lavender is $24.50 so it is worth 24.5 PV points. For most non-consumable products, a lower PV is assigned to the product - things like diffusers and books.

When it comes to order placement, it's PV that matters rather than dollars. If you're signed up for Essential Rewards, you earn a % of these points back with every order. The first three months you earn 10% back, then 20% back until you've been on ER for 25 months, then you'll receive a 25% return on your PV points! Because those on ER are required to spend a minimum of 50 PV each month, the minimum earned PV during the first year is over 100! You can save up your earned PV points for up to one year. I like to let mine stock-pile for a while and then place a nice big order on some of the more expensive oils and products I've been wanting to try.

Monthly Promo tiers are also based on PV. You'll find that every month, Young Living lists promotions based on the amount of PV spent every month. For example you may see something like: "Spend 100 PV and receive a free 5ml of Lavender Vitality".

making your $50 of ER PV back each month

PV is one of the requirements for ranking and receiving commission checks within the compensation plan. If a friend purchases a Premium Starter Kit using your member number, YL will send you a $50 thank you check, as long as you have a 50 PV order in place within that same month. So if you are signed up for Essential Rewards, your friend can sign up with Young Living through you (I'd still take care of their education and everything just like I did with you!) but you would receive the $50 check! All you need to do is send them your very own personal purchasing link which is found on the left-hand side of your dashboard > Member Resources > Link Builder.

If you have additional YL-based business-related questions for me, don't hesitate to reach out!

So how are you going to know how to actually use your oils?

Aside from the Facebook groups, the Sunflower & Fig blog and Instagram feed, and the support of others, PLEASE get yourself a trusted, Young Living specific reference app or book. That is where you will find all of the info you are looking for that I'm technically unable to say (compliance...)! Try and find ones that are Young Living based so you have a list of the single oils and blends available to you. If someone messages and asks me what oil they can use for a certain condition, I refer them to a reference guide. Since I'm not a doctor, I can't recommend specific oils for specific conditions. We all need to take charge of our own health and wellness anyway! Learn More

2018 Young Living Product Guide

maintaining fda compliance, especially when sharing to social media

(Excerpt from Mary Buck in our Mid-Atlantic Essentials FB Group)

Please don't let this scare, frustrate, or intimidate you. I was a little confused by it at first but once I understood about how to talk about my oils, I felt like I was able to freely share and keep Young Living safe at the same time. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have regarding compliance, so please don't hesitate to ask!

The FDA restricts what we are allowed to say about our Essential Oils. The best way to stay compliant is to avoid naming any disease or unhealthy condition of the body. As members of Young Living, we are required to talk about Essential Oils in terms of supporting our bodies. After all, this is the goal, isn't it? I sure don't want to spend a lifetime managing symptoms.

Examples of non-compliant comments and questions (what we CAN'T say):

What oils can I use to prevent the flu/tummy bug/the common cold?
What oil can I use for anxiety?
I just used _____ for a headache and it went away!
I use _____, _______, and _____ for my seasonal allergies.
I used ________ for pain in my knee and it went away!
I just read an article that says that ______ can cure _______!!!

Here's what we CAN say instead:

What oils can I use to support my immune system?
What are your favorite oils to use for emotional support?
I just rubbed Peppermint on my temples and it felt incredibly calming and soothing!
I like to make a roller of Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint and apply regularly this time of year.
I used Panaway on my knees and the tingle felt so soothing and relaxing!

List of "Hot" Words to Avoid When Sharing About Your Oils

And please don’t ever share any of these amazing articles on your Facebook page. Save them, or share them in a private message, but don’t post them, like them, or comment on them. We just can't allude to anything that claims that Essential Oils cure, treat, prevent, etc.

These rules apply to ALL Young Living members, not just those pursuing the business end of Young Living. According to the government, YL can be held liable for anything its members are sharing. I LOVE Young Living, and I LOVE my oils, and I LOVE this community, and I won't ever allow anything to put that in jeopardy.

One small detail to be aware of when it comes to making product claims: Because the FDA regulations state that only things you actually put inside your body can change the body, only Young Living's Vitality (Dietary) line may be referenced when we are speaking about changing the structure of a body system (ex. supporting our immune system) - not topical application or diffusing. So a very common example of this is that we cannot say that we diffuse Thieves or roll it on our feet to support our immune systems. We CAN say that we drink or ingest Thieves Vitality to support our immune systems. You CAN post a picture of your diffuser and a bottle of Thieves and say "I really love to diffuse Thieves this time of year." I know this is a little confusing and it may sound silly, especially for those of us who are aware the that the skin is our body's largest organ. No matter what our thoughts are on the matter, these are the FDA's rules are we are required to abide by them.

Don't ever stop learning

Am I missing anything?? Please let me know if you have any questions. I really do want to set you up for success with this investment in your health and wellness! And I realize that this is and can be a little overwhelming at first... But take it slow! Don't bite off more than you can chew. Diffuse a little Lavender and Frankincense and just enjoy your oils. Try one new thing each month, and diffuse new combinations to find out what you really like most! And as always, I'm here for any questions you may have! I'm so happy to have you on board and as a part of this community!
